  • 3000 RIDGELAND DEVELOPMENT | BSD100 DISTRICT SITE

3000 Ridgeland Development An official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the District Education Center was held on April 10, 2025. The education center will serve as a new location for the district’s administrative offices, but the vision for this new development extends well beyond office spaces. It was designed as a welcoming place to introduce new families to D100, a space to reimagine professional learning opportunities for staff, expand parent engagement and learning, further engage our community, and create much-needed outdoor spaces for the FMS students and staff and the broader community to enjoy. July, 2024 Phase 1 of the 3000 Ridgeland Project is underway and the parking structure adjacent to Freedom Middle School is scheduled for completion in August, 2024. Below the parking lot is a water retention structure that will hold 500,000 gallons of water, improving water retention potential for the surrounding community. Phase 2 of the project includes planning for a District Education Center to meet the professional and community needs of District 100 staff, families, and residents. Outdoor learning spaces will also be included in Phase 2 of the project. The Board of Education approved F.H.Paschen as the construction manager to work in collaboration with ARCON Associates, Inc. and District 100 in planning, development, and construction. Community Meeting - February 13, 2024

As a reminder, students attending hybrid will be in-person for half days two days a week, either Tuesday and Thursday or Wednesday and Friday. Mondays will continue to be remote for all students. The image below highlights the four phases and the dates when specific grade levels will return. Updated information about the hybrid model, including our hybrid health and safety manual, can be found on our website. A COVID-19 dashboard has been added to our website and will be updated every Friday based on the week’s data for positive cases and close contacts for staff and students. Student numbers will be updated based on the number of students on-site each week, meaning cumulative data for the year should be considered informational only and should not be compared with overall student enrollment. District 100 will be moving forward with the COVID-19 Rapid Point-Of-Care Antigen Testing program for on-site symptomatic staff and students. The program is offered through the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education and we have been working with health officials to complete all the requirements to begin administering tests. We are currently awaiting final state approval and will follow up with the date we will begin testing. For more information on the tests, please see the attached patient fact sheet that will be distributed to students and staff if they are tested in our schools. Once testing is set to begin, parents will receive additional information, including waiver forms in the event you decide to have your child tested at school. The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. District 100 will be implementing all mitigation strategies, including wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands frequently and need your support to help slow the spread and decrease the likelihood of exposure in our schools. Students attending in-person need to be self-certified every morning and we ask that if your child is sick, he/she remains at home. If your family has traveled out of state or attended large gatherings with people living outside your home, we ask that you follow guidance and recommendations from the Cook County Department of Public Health before sending your child back to school. If your child is a hybrid student but needs to remain at home, please contact your child’s school and he/she may attend remotely. Thank you for your continued partnership. Transportation concerns, including anticipated concerns due to weather changes throughout the school day. Condition of mechanical systems to ensure electricity and heat are working properly. • SPECIAL EDUCATION | BSD100 DISTRICT SITE

Special Education Welcome! Berwyn South Sc hool District 100 Special Education Department Berwyn South School District 100 offers a full continuum of Special Education services to those students who have undergone a case study evaluation and have been found eligible to receive additional educational support during their school day. Following state and federal laws that establish criteria for eligibility, schools are required to provide services to a child between the ages of 3 and 21 to address the adverse effect of a disability on his/her education. Special education is instruction and related services provided by special education personnel or by a general education program that has been modified through the use of special education support services, supplementary aids, or other special programming. Related services are support services that may be provided to assist a student in accessing his/her academic program. Related services include, but are not limited to, the following: occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychological services, social work services, and speech and language services. The student’s individual education plan (IEP) will determine the services and amount of time needed to meet the student’s academic or behavioral needs. Students with disabilities who do not qualify for an individualized education program under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, may qualify for services under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 if the student (i) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (ii) has a record of a physical or mental impairment, or (iii) is regarded as having a physical or mental impairment. Questions about the identification, assessment and placement of students should be directed to the Office of Special Education.
