Berwyn South Sc hool District 100 Special Education Department ​ Berwyn South School District 100 offers a full continuum of Special Education services to those students who have undergone a case study evaluation and have been found eligible to receive additional educational support during their school day. Following state and federal laws that establish criteria for eligibility, schools are required to provide services to a child between the ages of 3 and 21 to address the adverse effect of a disability on his/her education. ​ Special education is instruction and related services provided by special education personnel or by a general education program that has been modified through the use of special education support services, supplementary aids, or other special programming. Related services are support services that may be provided to assist a student in accessing his/her academic program. Related services include, but are not limited to, the following: occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychological services, social work services, and speech and language services. The student’s individual education plan (IEP) will determine the services and amount of time needed to meet the student’s academic or behavioral needs. Students with disabilities who do not qualify for an individualized education program under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, may qualify for services under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 if the student (i) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (ii) has a record of a physical or mental impairment, or (iii) is regarded as having a physical or mental impairment. They are provided on the digital platform in both English and Spanish. ​ IXL - This program is utilized in the K-8 level, to support basic math and fact practice and to individualize practice for students based on the skills that need further development. Lexia - Lexia Reading Core Program provides personalized learning on fundamental literacy skills for students in grades Pre-K to 5. myON - myON is an online resource for enhanced digital text for all D100 students. Menu & Meal Program Meal & Menu Program Menu ​ ​ Please click on the link below for more Menu information https://bsd100.schooldish.com/SchoolMenus ​ ​ ​ ​ Meal Program We are pleased to inform you that Berwyn South School District 100 will continue to participate in the Community Eligibility Option (CEP) program offered by the United States Department of Agriculture for the 2023 /2024 school year. This program allows us to provide a breakfast and lunch to our enrolled students at no cost to families. Parents or guardians are not required to apply or provide documentation for free or reduced fee breakfast and lunch. Parents or guardians do, however, need to complete a household and income eligibility form with proper documentation to determine qualification for free or reduced registration and school fees. USDA guidelines stipulate that students must select three (3) out of five (5) healthy food components at each meal – one of which must be a fruit or vegetable - for a healthy, balanced breakfast and/or lunch. Also, students are not allowed to take milk alone. Milk must be combined with a fruit or vegetable and one other component to total 3 items. 3000 Ridgeland Development July, 2024 ​ Phase 1 of the 3000 Ridgeland Project is underway and the parking structure adjacent to Freedom Middle School is scheduled for completion in August, 2024. Below the parking lot is a water retention structure that will hold 500,000 gallons of water, improving water retention potential for the surrounding community. Phase 2 of the project includes planning for a District Education Center to meet the professional and community needs of District 100 staff, families, and residents. Outdoor learning spaces will also be included in Phase 2 of the project. The Board of Education approved F.H.Paschen as the construction manager to work in collaboration with ARCON Associates, Inc. and District 100 in planning, development, and construction. ​​ ​ ​
